• In Pete's class we have just completed the children's book 'Handa's Surprise'.

The focus throughout was on understanding the story as a whole and retelling it through the use of a storyboard. There was additional work looking at using adjective, colours particularly, to describe things.

Our final lesson looking at the book saw the children feeling the fruit to describe it to their classmates before getting to taste the fruit. Unfortunately though we were not able to capture any of these activities on camera.

However, enjoy looking at the story and through some of the great work your children did throughout the project below.

  • Hello Parents,

We've now finished our project on MONSTERS. We created our monsters and described it in front of the class. It was a little scary but we did well!

Here is Kessaria describing her monster:

  • Dear all,

In Servane's group, the  general theme is still European countries, but we are now learning about finding 'key words' in a paragraph in order to find information on the web faster.

Then, we went on a webquest to find out the name of the countries described in the paragraphs. It was like a riddle, and some of us gave funny answers ( Ex: Sean lives in Startup European...!) but in the end we all got it! ;)

Now we're writing a paragraph about a mystery country and we'll make the others guess which country we are talking about.

    Holiday soon, enjoy!

  • On Sept, 26th, it was European Day of Languages, so we participated to the creation of a big Tree of Languages, on which we wrote "I love my school" in many different languages. We had a lot of fun!

Previously, we had worked on learning the names of quite a few European countries, nationalities and languages spoken. We've also worked on the UK and the countries that constitute the kingdom.

Here is a photo of our language tree:

  • Hello everybody and welcome back!

The first few weeks of the school term featured the children introducing each other. We’ve been practising higher numbers (20-100) and reminding ourselves of class rules and classroom language. Our main topics (other than basic introductions)have been about looking at units of time (minutes, hours, weeks, days) as well as focusing on animals (basic descriptions about them and what they can / can’t do).

We will be moving on to using adjectives and looking at simple comparative and superlative adjectives.CE1 - The First Term
