• CP also looked at materials and the story of the three little pigs, but with a greater focus on the story over the materials. The created some great masks for the pigs, the wolfs and the salesmen and some designs for the three houses. Below is a group photos after the classes had performed their versions of the story.

  • In the lead up to the holidays the students were doing work related to their daily activities and the times of day that they do them. In assisting with this they looked at a story suggested by Ani's mum Sonia called 'A Sick Day For Amos McGee'.

CP English - A Sick Day For Amos McGee

It was another story thoroughly enjoyed by the students and all the more because as part of suggestion the title Sonia offered her time to come in and read the book and participate in a class with the students which was held in the CDI room.

Sadly, I was too focused on listening to the story and then working on the activities to take any photos from the day but I would like to say a BIG thank you to Sonia for her time and enthusiasm with working with the class.

  • CE1 English - Guess Who...

Above is a photo of the board game the students in CE1 English made based on the classic board game 'Guess Who...' but using self-portraits. The students have been having fun playing this and putting the describing words and body parts vocabulary work they've been learning together.

  • To round out the third period of the year in CE1 Project, our work on materials was brought to an end with the story of the Three Little Pigs.  In class students had been identifying different materials, where some of those materials come from, what things are made out of different materials, and adjectives to describe materials. to conclude the topic the class created props and masks before acting out their own take on the story (see some photos of the final performance below).

  • As part of a cross-class group project, the students in CM2 all came together and then split into groups to produce a role play displaying a variety of emotions. Using Disney's animation film 'Inside Out' for a foundation, in groups of 5-6 students had to produce a dialogue and act out a scenario using a variety of emotions.

A main focus of the project was to help students understand the important of pronunciation and tone and body language when speaking. Additionally, it was a basis for improving students' teamwork skills and build vocabulary and confidence.

It was great seeing the enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by all the students in what was a difficult tasks. The students worked really well leading up to the performance (see below) and once I work out how to upload the videos you'll get to see some of the impressive results.
