In the lead up to the holidays the students were doing work related to their daily activities and the times of day that they do them. In assisting with this they looked at a story suggested by Ani's mum Sonia called 'A Sick Day For Amos McGee'.
It was another story thoroughly enjoyed by the students and all the more because as part of suggestion the title Sonia offered her time to come in and read the book and participate in a class with the students which was held in the CDI room.
Sadly, I was too focused on listening to the story and then working on the activities to take any photos from the day but I would like to say a BIG thank you to Sonia for her time and enthusiasm with working with the class.

Happy New Year! And welcome back after what I hope was a happy, enjoying but also relaxing winter break.
After spending the first week back looking at how we spent our holidays, this week we started a new story:
In covering this book, the students will continue focusing on comprehension and the sequencing of events but this time we will also include some art related activities. The students are really excited about the book and I look forward to seeing the wonderful pieces of work they create and posting it here in the coming weeks.
Here are some photos of the amazing work done in relation to the story...

In CP English we have covered two books over the past term.
The first story covered was Dr. Seuss' 'One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish'. The focus for the students from this story was on opposites and on rhyming words.
Following on from Dr. Seuss, we read Eric Carle's 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. There was a lot of revision from this story, focusing on days of the week, colours and vocabulary for food. We looked at storyboards again to help students with comprehension and retelling the events in the story.
It has been a busy term but the students have worked so well and earned them winter break.
Safe holidays and look forward to continue on in the new year where we left off this year!

The CP English beginners class is very busy learning a number of new themes. After learning the weather and the basic greetings, they are now confident with colors and numbers! We also are looking at the animal vocabulary and the body parts... They are very energetic and eager to learn more!
I will be keeping you up with more progress next year so until then Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!!
Stephanie
