• For the past few weeks leading up to the holidays CM1 students have been looking at animals. As part of this topic they have revised the usage of they present simple and continuous, used the modal 'must' and been introduced to object pronouns. In this we have followed the story of a school trip to the zoo, covered the story of Chicken Licken, discussed favourite animals and thrown in a little biology with the main animal classifications. This was wrapped up with a trip to the computer lab for students in pairs to research a specific animal and then produce a poster providing information about that animal. See some photos of the students working well together below.

After students  present their posters to the class following the holidays our next topic will be looking at holidays.

  • Can you spot Flat Stanley in the classroom?

    PenPal from London

What about spotting him in Bakuriani?

    PenPal from London

In a joint project, CM1 and CE2 received a little friend in the mail all the way from London. Accompanying Flat Stanley were a bunch of letters from 4th grade primary students in London.

As part of the PenPal exchange we are going to show Flat Stanley some of the sights around Tbilisi and Georgia before popping him back in the mail along with reply letter the students have worked. As you can see, he has already made his way to Bakuriani with some of the students!

As well as finding out about England, the English and London we are currently working on a project relating to animals and their classifications. At the end of the project students will present a poster created in pairs on an animal of their choosing, which will happen prior to the fast approaching mid-term break.

    Till next time

  • CM2 learned about and rehearsed the Wham! song Last Christmas, finding out about the song, what it was about and practising telling the story in their own words.

Throughout January we have been looking at descriptions, using adjectives and adverbs to help us describe different people and objects as we create a short book about ourselves.

  • CE2 spent December carefully laying out and writing a letter to Santa Claus so that he knew what to bring each child during the Christmas and New Year period.

January has seen the children writing their own short story about different characters that they have encountered in the alphabet. After writing the story, most of the children felt confident enough to read their story to the rest of the class!

  • Welcome back to the school!

In December, CE1 wrote letters to Santa Claus and created Christmas cards for their family and friends.

Once we returned in January (and everybody had explained what they had done during their holidays in great detail); we started to look at the human body. We drew some pictures and labelled different parts of the body. We also had a special visit from Super Skele (as CE1 have now named the school skeleton), who pointed out different parts of her body.
