  • Hello everybody!

CM2 have worked really hard, the jewel of their masterpieces focused on poetry! We looked at different styles of poems (Haiku, free-style, shape poems, rhyming couplets) which they wrote on their own and then performed in front of the other classes of CM1/CM2. They were fantastic!

Before that, we started by looking at prepositions / directions and linking them to questions. Asking questions to find your way around.

After that children had to describe themselves in detail. Looking at their appearance, what they enjoy, family life and pets as well as looking at their environment (the city / area they live in). This involved work in the computer room which made them very happy!

We look forward to next term when we will be focusing on a big project, the summer solstice! CM2 will play a very important part in this.

  • Hello all!

CE2 have been busy showing off a range of skills during these couple of months.

Having looked at famous landmarks and explained where they are, we described them; what they looked like, where they were and what was surrounding them.

We looked at music and what musical instruments can be played. It turns out that quite a lot of CE2 are very skilled with musical instruments! We learnt "I am the music man" and the children enjoyed singing this over and over.

After this we looked at creating our own questionnaires based on hobbies, food, music (naturally!) and families. The children were able to write 10 questions each and ask their neighbour to answer them. They then read aloud to the rest of the class, taking it in turns.

Finally, we looked at animals and linked them to prepositions of place. Who could find the animal and describe where the animal was on a poster. All of the children seemed to enjoy spotting the animals and working on their own clues to ask others in the class about the location of the animals!

We are now looking forward to the big main project, the summer solstice!

  • We've had a busy term!

CE1 were looking at weather forecasts and creating maps for the weather. We looked at directions and how to use prepositions.

We then looked at words which rhymed (sound the same) and used these words to create some simple poetry which rhymes. Everybody worked well and the results are there to see on the door of their English room.

Following on from this we looked at music and what musical instruments can be played. We learnt "I am the music man" and the children enjoyed singing this over and over.

Finally, we read from cover to cover a 24 page book called Curious George. The children wanted to read aloud themselves and did a great job!

We used this book to then produce a picture with a short sentence which showed their favourite part of the book.

We can't wait for next term and the summer solstice project!
